How each cloth is kept

Italian jacquard — MMXVII. Dry clean only. The roses are woven, not printed; they hold their relief as long as the cloth is never pressed flat under a hot iron.

Genuine leather — MMXXI, MMXXV. Specialist leather cleaning only. Never water, never a domestic machine. Store on a broad hanger, away from direct light: leather keeps the shape of what it hangs on.

Wool crepe — MMXXIV. Dry clean only. Hang for a day after wearing before it returns to the wardrobe; wool releases its own creases if given air.

Crinoline tulle — MMXIX. Gentle hand wash, cold, dry flat. There is no interfacing in these pieces — the structure is the fabric itself, and heat is what destroys it.

Toile de jouy — MMXXIII. Machine wash gentle at 30°C, or dry clean. The exposed gold zipper should be closed before washing.

Repair

Every piece was cut and finished by hand, which means it can be opened and closed again by hand. A split seam, a lost hook, a zipper that has stopped running — send us a photograph at noun@nounperspective.com and we will tell you whether it is something we should do here or something a good local tailor can do faster.

Repairs on our own construction are free for two years from purchase. You pay the shipping to Berlin; we pay it back.

Alteration

A body changes. A garment cut to a body can be recut. Corsetry and structured bodices have seam allowance built in for exactly this reason — write to us with the measurement that has moved.

When it is genuinely finished

Deadstock cloth exists because someone once decided a roll was finished when it was not. We would rather take a piece back than see it end in a bin. Write to us first — at worst we can tell you where the cloth can go on.
